Scholar's Spotlight

On March 4th, the Theo-Sight Institute for Research and Advocacy had the privilege of hosting Rev. Prof. Stephen O.Y. Baba, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on "Sacred Text in the Age of Machine: Interrogating the Relevance, Challenges, and Future of Biblical Language in the Era of Artificial Intelligence."

Prof. Baba, a renowned professor of Biblical language, commenced his presentation by providing a comprehensive overview of the evolution of machines, meticulously outlining the First, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Industrial Revolutions that have culminated in the emergence of Artificial Intelligence.

He emphasized the profound metamorphosis underway globally, necessitating a paradigm shift among theologians, lecturers, and preachers. Prof. Baba stressed the imperative of adopting a new mindset, urging both educators and students to embrace the transformative changes brought about by technological advancements.

He reassured the audience that this paradigm shift is not inherently sinful, but rather a manifestation of God-given creativity, intended to be harnessed by humanity. In conclusion, Prof. Baba posed a poignant question, asking if we are prepared to adapt to the burgeoning digital and technological transformation that is revolutionizing our world.

This lecture sparked a critical conversation about the intersection of technology, theology, and education, challenging participants to rethink their approaches and attitudes toward the rapidly evolving landscape.
